Brad Murray: you’re right, it should be ported to Python. The article was more about the proof of concept and to determine if DNS would be a suitable system for storing host information. A proper implementation of this technique would for instance also involve some sort of encryption as DNS is a public system. To avoid sharing sensitve information about the system architecture it would be highly recommended to obfuscate the content of the TXT records. Unfortunately, I don’t have any Python skills but I’d love to see someone making a proper resuable module. Perhaps one day dynamic inventories can also be shared on Ansible Galaxy.
