You’re missing the part about intent.

I feel threatened by your words. It doesn’t matter what you wrote. Therefore you intimidated me.

This doesn’t work in a sane society.

If you look at the unanimous reactin on Twitter by female engineers, they obviously felt attacked

Anyone who felt attacked either didn’t read the memo, or lacks reading comprehension or is emotionally immature. I won’t blame James Damore for their failings.
