I appreciate your article as I appreciate anyone who takes the time to write on medium because it really is a wonderful platform for the sharing of critical thinking. However, I vehemently disagree that, “there are no bad teams, only bad leaders.” A growing body of research studies clearly show that women tend to not be picked as leaders — even by other women! Also, women fear retaliation for speaking up because they are afraid that they might be seen as too assertive. I state all this because you were quoting from a book about Navy Seals and, to date, they are positions filled by men so of course their experience regarding leadership will be markedly different than mine as a woman. I can’t possibly go into an exhaustive list of studies here in a mere response. But I would urge you and anyone reading this article to keep in mind that there are perceived and scientifically verified differences in leadership between gender. So, if you’re a woman, understand that it’s not simply in your head: there really can be bad and biased teams!
