The Story Begins
This is the beginning of a story. A story that is very long. A story full of new beginnings, family, love, kindness, hardship, change, equality, inequality, roles, responsibilities, outside influences, societal influences and a great deal of emotional, mental and psychological strength. It’s a story that not many women are ready or willing to tell. It’s a story of empowerment and not the kind that dances around the trendy word. It’s a story of sisterhood. Community support. Inner strength. A story of crying. Breaking down to the depths of despair. Trust. Loss. Deception. Manipulation. Abuse. Lots and lots of abuse. Psychological abuse. Control. Financial control. Emotional control. It’s a story of silent suffering. A story about breaking free from the reins of the 1950’s role of wife to the liberated business woman and modern equal partner of today. It’s a story about self discovery. A story of following your true north. For yourself. Your children. Your community. Your legacy. Your life. And it begins today. On this platform. On this day. With no edits. No re-writes. No drafts. Just as is.
This is my personal story. Let’s call it journal entries. It will be honest entries (most likely wit typos) with Chapter subject matter that will stick to one theme, one point, one message, one thought. It will relate to many people and relate to very few. It will tie in my passions for investing in others and making great connections. And it will tie in my role as mother, wife, ex-wife, parent, co-parent, sister, daughter, banker, corporate executive, founder, fitness fanatic, entrepreneur, minority founder, female founder, investor, and friend.
I hope to write one Chapter a week. Would love for you to read it, follow me, give feedback, opinions, arguments, support, no support, advice, judgement. Whatever. My life is an open book. Always has been. Always will be. I live freely with no fear of judgement. The traits of a founder, entrepreneur, woman of strength, leader. Fearless. Always.
Stay tuned for my Chapter 1 write up next week where I will begin with:
Chapter 1: Marriage. Definitions and Expectations and their impact on motherhood, parenting and career.
Hold on to your seats, your hats or whatever you have, because this is the real deal and a story that many people over the past 2 years have urged me to write down and share.
