Product Concept: Introducing “Real Friends”

A Location-Based Messaging App. To Find Cool Friends In Your Area

Maybe it has already happened to you too.

One day, I forgot my keys somewhere (later I discovered they were actually in my bag, but that’s another story) and while I was waiting in front of my door for my girlfriend to come home, I thought about how a mobile app. could help in this situation. And no, it’s not an app that can shape any material into key.

Let me introduce you to Real Friends, a mobile app. that allows you to know where your real friends are and enables you to meet new people you would want to meet — because they are your friends’ real friends.

Imagine.

It’s 10:00pm. The friend you were having drinks with is heading home, but you don’t want to call it a night just yet. You check your smartphone and… nothing happens. Why? Because you can’t be bothered (or you’re too shy) to call dozens of friends in your contact list to know who may be up for drinks or who’s already around having drinks in the area… You go home depressed.

The on-boarding flow of Real Friend asks you to select no more than 15 people to join you on the app.

Once downloaded, the Real Friends app. asks you to select 15 of your Facebook friends who are your real friends, i.e. the kind of friends that know you well (certainly too well, real friends typically know who you hooked up with last weekend and why you disappeared quickly after, or why you cannot eat mushrooms — don’t ask ;)). Each of your friends will also invite 15 close friends to join the app. Among this pool of real friends, you’ll then be able to see who is located where, who is available to hang out, and interact at any given time.

Do you remember the really good friend of your best friend? She’s cool but she is your friend’s friend. With Real Friend, you can connect and meet up with her with a peaceful mind.

Once your real friends are added in the app., you can exchange your location with them and with their real friends too, just in a tap.

You have only one action to do when the app. is launched, share your location

Sometimes, you are not really into the mood to talk to other people. You are at home, taking a bath and all by yourself. Suddenly, you receive a notification on your phone:

Hello, Renaud wants to exchange locations.

Or a different one like this:

Hello, a real friend of Renaud wants to exchange locations.

Because this application respects your privacy, you’ll always be able to decline the invitation.

Meet

When the list of people around you grows you can see who is currently in the area and available to socialize.

Look, Mike, your super good friend is only 940 feet away. And also Kendall is here, and even closer… and Janine, Mike’s friend who is super smart and funny. All of them are around you and willing to chat and possibly hang out with you. Only one tap away.

Want to meet them? Tap on the arrow and it opens the map… Because 700 feet can be longer than expected if you get lost!

Tap on a profile pic to open the menu and browse between the chat and the map

Of course you have the ability to add or remove real friends (“she stole my boyfriend”) and accept or ignore real friends requests (“what a stalker”).

The Real Friends app. is for the shy but lively people around us. The ones who will not call you on the spot, because they don’t want to bother you…
