Finally, take this irritating behavior as a moment for self-reflection. Is there anything that could contribute to the new guy’s perception that you are more junior than you are? Do you hedge all of your statements in meetings? Are you always doing small favors for people, which may have led to a perception that you are the one to turn to for small tasks? Maybe everyone else in this office knows you’re that brilliant person who also just happens to wear Power Rangers shirts to work, but to a new person, that might scream immaturity (and questionable taste).
