Dear Mr. Robbins:

You describe yourself as the “world authority on leadership psychology” and promise to transform people’s lives. I’m an actual psychologist seeking advice for my own transformation.

Last month, you claimed that a “very famous man, very powerful man” chose not to hire a woman even though she was the best qualified candidate. You said this was because that woman had the misfortune of being “very attractive” and thus presented too much risk to her potential employer.

Mr. Robbins, exactly how unattractive do I need to be to have a successful career? I’m a social psychologist specializing in the psychology of gender, and I’m still flummoxed. …
