Largest Pay Raise in 8 years
Troops will receive modernized equipment, world-class training, and 2.4% pay increase.

Our nation’s servicemen and women put their lives on the line every day to protect the freedoms and liberties that make this country the greatest in the world.
From the front lines to the homefront, they have earned nothing less than our full support.
On the battlefield, our soldiers need modernized equipment and resources to safely and effectively do their jobs and return home to their loving families.
However, while our world has grown more dangerous, the support our servicemen and woman receive and the strength of our military has dwindled. In fact, the Air Force has testified that less than 50% of its planes are combat ready, while the Navy and Marine Corps testified they had just over 50% of the aircraft necessary for their training and operations.
With our list of enemies — North Korea, Iran — growing, this is nothing short of alarming.
I have never wavered in my support for our men and women in uniform, which is why I was proud to support legislation that makes key investments in their equipment, resources, and training and bolsters our military readiness. In the face of an ever more maniacal North Korea, it also increases our missile defense funding by $2.5 billion so we can successfully thwart their provocations.

However, our committment to our troops does not stop when they return home. It is our responsibility to ensure they have the ability to easily transition back into civilian life.
Earlier this year, I introduced the SERVE Act, legislation to help veterans who have refined skills on the battlefield translate those skills into a stable and successful civilian career. Last week, the full House of Representatives came together to unanimously pass my critical bipartisan legislation, my initiative that will have a positive on-the-ground impact on Michigan veterans and their families.
Having fought to defend our country on the front lines, our nation’s veterans are the real heroes and, I will never stop fighting for them in Congress.
