For those who do not have an interest in the game of Soccer or maybe even sports in general, this summer was one for the books. Cristian Ronaldo returned to Manchester United Lionel Messi left FC Barcelona after 21 years to join the French Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) FC. In addition to Lionel Messi, PSG managed to sign former Real Madrid defender, Sergio Ramos, AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, and a few other quality players. These new additions will only deepen the squad already consisting of extraordinarily talented players such as Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Angel Di Maria, Marco Veratti, and Mauro Icardi. Quite the busy summer for PSG but that is not who this post is about. To be clear, this post will cover Danish striker, Martin Braithewaite of FC Barcelona and the success he is having outside of football.

With Lionel Messi leaving FC Barcelona, Danish striker Martin Braithewaite would be the next big headline for something he's been doing off the pitch. The sports page GiveMeSport released an article with the following headline, “Martin Braithwaite is now Barcelona’s richest player due to highly successful business”. Naturally, this made me curious to see what kind of business the Barcelona goalscorer was involved in. Apparently, Braithewaite invested $850,000 into creating a real estate investment company called NYCE Company Incorporated. What started as a family business venture with his uncle, Philip Micheal, has now grown into a business worth $250 million dollars.

So what is it? NYCE Company is a platform that allows ordinary individuals to invest in properties like they would stocks. As shown in the picture above, the business has been referred to as the Robinhood of real estate. That comparison is heavily based on an interview both Martin and Micheal had with Yahoo Finance. In the interview, the two share their motives behind launching the real estate platform. Their motives include giving ordinary people the ability to invest in real estate, which they normally wouldn’t have, and closing the wealth gap between social classes. A goal of theirs is actually listed on the NYCE Companies’ website and that goal is to create 200,000 new millennial millionaires. Those 200,000 millionaires may not become millionaires by next year but by providing a different practice of investing their money, they are confident they help millennials develop smart investing habits. Philips and Braithewaite currently own 1,500 apartments with 500 more under development and have just under 6,000 people invested in real estate. This is by far Martin Briathewaite's most profitable business but it is certainly not his only business venture.

Martin Braithewaite also owns a clothing brand with his wife, Anne-Laure Louis Braithwaite, called Trente. The brand has reported done exceptionally well in France, serving the industry of high fashion apparel. In addition to the clothing brand, Martin owns a restaurant in Barcelona.

Having just suffered from a very serious knee injury, Martin Braithewaite’s football career may be on the decline but he should have nothing to worry about financially for all three of his businesses seem to be doing quite well.
