Ancient aphorism — ‘Actions speak louder than words.’ That’s for a very interesting reason. Words can be made into a lie — very easily, as we know. But an action is inherently true, and, regardless of all verbal statements to the contrary, cannot be denied. The obverse holds true for the lack of action. If there’s no evidence to prove it, just saying you did something, does NOT make it true.

Odd how many public figures seem to either a) be ignorant of this, or b) purposely ignore it, believing, like a certain, current very public figure, that just because they say it, no other reason or support, only that THEY SAID IT, it IS true. Deeply pathological, that, rooted in a self-involvement that is so complete, there is no room for anything, or anyone else. Rather like the national obsession with ‘American Exceptionalism’, ‘Manifest Destiny’, ‘The White Man’s Burden’, and ‘God’s Country’. It does run deep, even so far as including the belief that because we’re american, and we did it, it’s ‘by god right!’ We didn’t invent it — only inherited it, and modified it to suit our ‘new’ place in the world, some of which we actually worked for, and built, but a lot of which just fell into place through an accident of geographical location, and historical forces we only helped to blow up into something much larger than it ever needed to be, except to feed the megalomaniacals, who’ve always been with us, only waiting to seize any opportunity to grab what they see as theirs because they have the ‘vision’ and wealth/strength/ daring to do so, regardless of the outcome to anyone else.
