Modern Love, Bomber Jackets and Frances Ha
Frances adores New York City and idolizes friendships all out of proportion… no, make that: she romanticizes them all out of proportion. To her, no matter what the season is this is a town that still exists in black and white and pulsates to Bowie’s Modern Love.
Frances is the main character in the film “Frances Ha”, a comedy-drama directed by Noah Baumbach. According to her, it is hard to say what she does. Not because it is complicated, but because she doesn’t really do it. Her story is one that depicts apartment hopping as a trajectory to adulthood and makes us face the fact that sometimes we are just mediocre at doing what we love to do. More importantly, it makes us accept that nothing is immune to the flux of life ( not even the relationship with the person who is basically you, but with different hair). However, that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t do pirouettes to the sound of Modern Love and enjoy life effortlessly.
