How to set up Atom with Pandoc, LaTeX rendering and Mendeley

Quick setup to write papers and neat notes with LaTeX and proper citations.

In Mendeley, go to Preferences → BibTeX and Enable Syncing. This will dump a BibTex file in the location specified.

Install HomeBrew, then

brew install pandoc

brew install pandoc-citeproc

Install Atom. In atom, go to Settings → Packages and install markdown-preview-enhanced.

Click the markdown-preview-enhanced Settings button, and enable “Use Pandoc Parser” and configure the command line arguments:

--mathjax, --filter=mermaid-filter, --citeproc, --bibliography=/Users/YOUR_USERNAME/bibtex.bib

Check the Pandoc Parser box and add the command line arguments. Note that the — filter=pandoc-citeproc has been superseded by — citeproc.

Now you can quickly write and preview citations and formulas.
