I highly recommend trying to make a decision around the niche/business side of your blog as soon as possible. Of course, it does help to give it some time to evolve and to figure things out.
However, the problem is this:
You might end up getting ‘distracted’ writing about all sorts of stuff and before you know it, you find yourself unable to really focus on something and turn your blog into a business.
I think if you are unsure about your target market/the problem you are solving, then it makes more sense to spend a little bit more time in the research/brainstorming phase rather than trying to ‘get started’ as soon as possible.
An alternative is to use a platform like Medium as a “personal branding” platform where you cover a broader range of topics and then, once you have clarity, to start a niche Wordpress blog, which will become the real hub for your business.
