AI technologies for UX/UI designers
Vladislav Danilchuk, UX/UI designer at Revend Group, gave a presentation on ‘AI technologies for UX/UI designers’. In this article, we would like to share with you the key conclusions and knowledge we gained during the presentation.
What is AI in design and what problems does it solve?
Artificial Intelligence (AI): a form of technology that allows machines to think, analyze, and perform tasks in a way that mimics human intelligence.
- Data analysis
- Automation of routine tasks
- Fast iteration and testing
- Efficiency and quality
UX/UI Design & AI
Design should solve a user’s problem. The main goal of design is to provide convenience, efficiency, and satisfaction to users by covering their needs in every element.
Artificial intelligence helps to do this much faster and more efficiently, freeing up time and reducing the amount of routine work. This allows you to focus on more creative and strategic aspects.
How to use AI in UX design
- Competitor analysis
- Analysis of the target audience
- Creating user personas
- Creating AI and User Flow
- User Testing
- Heat maps
- Prototypes
- Accessibility testing
The most useful AI programs and plugins for UX/UI designers
Research and analysis (ChatGPT, Google Bard, Microsoft Copilot)
These AI tools can analyze large amounts of data about user behavior on websites or apps, identify trends, and predict how users will interact in the future. This can make it easier for UX designers to analyze competitors, target audience, and user personas.
However, the main condition is to write the Prompt clearly, the more data it will be guided by, and the better you will get the answer, Vlad emphasized.
Generation and optimization (QoQo.ai, FigJam AI, uizard.io, Wireframe Designer)
AI plays a key role in improving the workflow at the UX research stage, contributing to efficient organization from creating information architecture and developing detailed user profiles and sitemaps to automated generation and implementation of solutions in User Flow and prototypes.
And as a result of using these tools, the designer has the opportunity not only to optimize their time, but also to avoid common mistakes during this “research and analysis” process.
Verification and testing (Hotjar, Crazy Egg, Attention Insight (Plugin))
These are powerful tools specially designed for UX designers to improve the quality and efficiency of projects.
Hotjar — A visualized heatmap showing how users interact with different elements. It helps to understand their behavior and interaction with the site.
Crazy Egg — Analyzes which areas attract users’ attention the most. Shows how far users scroll the page. Shows the number of clicks on each individual element of the page.
Attention Insight — (plugin and website) Predicts and visualizes the areas where users focus their attention on a page or screen. Determines the emotional reactions of users to design elements.
UX and АІ
Conclusion
The use of AI in concept generation, prototyping, and testing is an important step towards optimizing the workflow. It allows the designer to focus on strategic and creative aspects, ensuring high-quality and efficient design.
By relieving designers of monotonous tasks, AI allows them to spend their talent and energy on what really matters — developing innovative and user-centered products.
This approach not only helps to optimize workflows but also ensures a high standard of UX design, which is key to success in a world of excessive digital competition and lack of time and money to develop a quality product.
How to use AI in UI design
- Images and videos
- Creation of design concepts
- Automation
- Coloristics
- Typography
- Accessibility
Image generation
Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, DALL·E 3, Bing Image Generator, Stockimg AI
These are extremely powerful AI tools that can help you create truly unique images (and more). Why they are useful:
They can create images for every taste and purpose — from icons and product cards to STA banners.
They can generate interface mockups for new apps or websites.
They allow you to create and test design concepts in a very short time.
Color and typography
Huemint is a plugin in Figma that allows you to:
- Quickly select a visual style for your project.
- Fine-tune the color scheme without wasting time.
- Achieve better accessibility by adjusting the contrast.
Figma Color Wheel Typestyles (and similar ones) are plugins in Figma that make it easy:
- Work with typography.
- Flexible customization of styles.
- Make it easy to find the best font pairs for your project.
AI Emojis
- Generate emoticons on demand
- There are even brave knight cats here ;)
Interact with images
Adobe — is a universal basic program that allows you to perform all possible image manipulations
Canva —is a free online graphic design tool. Here you can create social media posts, presentations, posters, videos, etc.
For now, these two programs are quite enough to meet all possible needs for working with images.
Adobe — Photoshop (with Firefly AI)
- Generate and process images in a few seconds
- Improve the quality and cut out the background
- Change the object, its size and shape — all in just one step
Canva
- Create, edit, and enhance images on demand
- Remove backgrounds and objects in photos, generate new locations and objects
- Create 3D animated GIF images

Can artificial intelligence (AI) replace a designer?
Artificial intelligence cannot replace human compassion.
Human beings are evolutionarily designed to reason with empathy and emotion. Emotional intelligence plays an important role in making decisions and gaining experience with the world around us, allowing us not only to analyze information rationally, but also to understand and take into account important aspects of human feelings and relationships.
Artificial intelligence is about computational efficiency, analytical skills, and process automation, but not about unique creativity, intuition, and the ability to perceive emotional shades.
AI is a designer’s friend!
AI can automate some tasks, such as prototyping, testing, and data analysis, but it can’t replace the creative process and human understanding of user needs.
However, it may well change the role of UX/UI designers. AI is guaranteed to have the ability to automate most of the tasks that UX/UI designers spend a significant amount of time on. Therefore, by freeing us from monotony, we will have time for more creativity and improvisation.
