Two Thousand & Thirteen

A whole bunch of pictures in more-or-less chronological order.

2013 started the same way 2012 ended: At a New Year’s Eve party in Northeast Minneapolis.

A Devil’s Night Out

For my birthday, I forced my friends to wear masks, play poker, and auction off parts of their personality.

The cake was made by a friend of ours. She must have sold her soul for her cake-making ability, so it was fitting.

We liked it so much, in fact, that we had her make another one for Lauren’s birthday.

A photography project involving paper cut-outs and shallow depth of field.

Apparently, I’m inspired by David Belle and monsters.

DASH Twin Cities

In the spring, I helped organize a marathon puzzle event on the U of MN campus. I got to wear a lab coat and run participants all over the west bank. The weather was freakishly perfect.

Northern Spark

This year, the all-night art festival was held in and around the new Union Station in Saint Paul.

They burned things for our amusement.

CONvergence

The premier party con for Twin Cities geeks. I volunteered at the Space Lounge and helped run a trading card game.

Wedding Adventures

A couple of friends did their wedding right with camping, games, lots of pretty lights.

Also, Lauren’s hair was beyond beautiful ☺

Not long after, I officiated a wedding for two more friends.

Wedding photos on the train, ceremony at City Hall, and the rings were delivered by a flying shark.

I have excellent friends.

Chicago

I went to Chicago for a responsive web design workshop being run by An Event Apart. I stayed an extra day to take a gangster tour and venture up to the North Side to see the original Green Mill. (Also a gangster thing.)

Halloween

Beetlejuice was the party theme for this year and our hosts went a little crazy with the prop-making. That’s why we love them.

I went a little crazy at Spirit Halloween. Got myself a ghost girl and zombie baby, amongst other things. Homey.

Seattle

We went to the Pacific Northwest for a post-Thanksgiving extravaganza so massive that it had two satellite events in its orbit. I had waffles made of stuffing, garlic-injected smashed potatoes, and Cornish game hens marinaded in buttermilk and wing sauce. Then, I slept until 3:00 pm.

On our last day, Lauren and I took the ferry across Puget sound, just to take photos of the city.

Looking forward to doing it all again next year.
