Best Jeni’s Ice Cream Flavors

Many people review Jeni’s as the best ice cream they’ve ever had. One thing that makes it different than other ice creams is the ingredients. Unlike most ice cream companies, the cream is organic and from grass-fed cows. Also, all of the add-ins like berries, peanuts, and chocolate are made from whole foods and sourced from local suppliers.

Jeni’s flavors are also incredibly creative and different. For the most part, they are flavors you’ve never tried or even heard of. Flavors like Brambleberry Crisp, Gooey Butter Cake, and Savannah Buttermint are completely unique to Jeni’s and nearly impossible to find anywhere else. Even Jeni’s dark chocolate is unlike any other ice cream you’ll.

Where can you buy Jeni’s Ice Cream?

Jeni’s Scoop Shops: Jeni’s has locations in varying cities across the country. At these shops, you can get Jeni’s scoops by the cup/cone or buy a pint to take home.

Grocery stores: Pints are also available at most grocery stores. Typically, these stores don’t have quite the selection as Jeni’s Scoop Shops. That said, you can still usually find some of the most popular flavors.

Jeni’s website: You can also purchase Jeni’s pints online on their website. They offer shipping nationwide on all of their products. Shipping usually takes 1–2 weeks and will cost upwards of $10.

Amazon: Amazon also sells Jeni’s pints online. If you have Amazon Prime, you can have it delivered for free. The pints themselves are also cheaper on Amazon. They go for about $6 on Amazon vs. $12 on Jeni’s website.

Best Jeni’s Ice Cream flavors

Jeni’s has a top seller collection, but these aren’t quite the best flavors. For the most part, it includes legacy flavors that have been long-time staples for the brand. It hasn’t been updated with newer flavors.

Rather than going by the best sellers, here are the flavors that Jeni’s employees and customers love the most. This includes the most unique flavors regarded as ones that you need to try.

Gooey Butter Cake

For most Jeni’s fans, Gooey Butter Cake is their favorite. This is the “need to try” Jeni’s flavor.

Gooey Butter Cake has gobs of cake that are moist and chewy. The cake adds a great texture dynamic. If you’ve never had actual gooey butter cake, it’s a dense vanilla cake. What makes it so dense is it’s made with cream cheese. It usually comes in the form of bars and is paired with ice cream. Jeni’s just packaged it up and did the work for you.

The gobs of cake are also accompanied by caramel butterscotch sauce that gives it a nice second wind of sweetness.

Brown Butter Almond Brittle

Many people don’t like almond brittle. If only they knew to crush it up and throw it in buttercream ice cream with brown sugar butter. Then they would change their minds.

The almond brittle in this ice cream adds a nice, subtle crunchiness. The pieces are not too big so you’re not overwhelmed by it. The gobs of brown sugar butter throughout gives it a warm, sweet feeling.

If you’ve never had brown sugar butter, you’re not alone. It’s a unique ingredient that has sort of an indescribable flavor. That taste is unexpected and so flavorful. Not rich, but flavorful.

Darkest Chocolate

If you would not normally get plain dark chocolate ice cream, you should still try this flavor. This dark chocolate is totally different than any you’ll experience. It has a creamy, maltiness to it that is completely unique.

The package describes the finish as “dry”. Most wouldn’t describe it that way. It’s definitely more of a creamy finish than dry. It almost has a milk chocolate feel to it while maintaining the dark chocolate taste.

This is a highly recommended flavor, ESPECIALLY if you don’t like dark chocolate. It will break down that barrier for you.

Savannah Buttermint

Combining white chocolate with mint is not something most would ever think to do. The flecks of white chocolate give this ice cream a unique, crunchy texture.

Sometimes, you’ll find larger flecks that are more like white chocolate swirls. Those are the best bites.

The mint gives it a freshness — the white chocolate gives it a sweet, smooth, creaminess. It’s not too rich so it’s one of those where you can eat the whole pint in one sitting. If you’re looking to do that, this is the ice cream for you.

Blackout Chocolate Cake

In each bite of this ice cream, you’ll find a portion of chocolate cake. Some bites will be all cake with a little ice cream. Some bites will be a little cake with more ice cream.

Here and there you’ll also get globs of fudge. This fudge is amazing. Normally, fudge has to be warm to be good. This one can be sitting in a freezer for days and still have that warm fudge feeling. It’s gooey and melty and when it combines with the cake it’s truly something else.

Closing thoughts

Brambleberry Crisp is another flavor that is a huge fan favorite. It is on the Jeni’s Essentials list and is certainly worth a try. If you are not as much of a chocolate lover, it would be a great replacement for the Blackout Chocolate Cake flavor on this list.

Jeni’s also offers dairy-free and vegan ice creams for people with dietary restrictions. People without dietary restrictions still love these flavors too. They somehow are able to maintain a satisfactory level of creaminess while staying dairy-free and vegan.

There are also new arrivals that recently launched and are worth a try. Jeni Britton Bauer herself loves her new Orange Blossom Chiffon flavor. A lot of the new flavors have a unique fruity twist.

If you can’t decide what flavor to get, do what most people do — TRY THEM ALL!
