1# Topography Modeling from DWG File

Hey Y’all!

Welcome to our first Lesson for beginners in Revit. I hope this post could help you guys to understand and pluck up your courage to finally use this amazing tool.

In this very first lesson, you learn how to model your topography using a “.dwg” topography file, to create your building site.

If you have a topography from a .DWG file…

  1. If you have a CAD file from your topography, you also probably have the coordinates from your site, as well as the elevation. So, write it down and keep it so we could use inside Revit. Very well, in your Revit window, open a DEFAULT 3D VIEW and go to

MASSING & SITE > TOPOSURFACE

2. Inside de Edit Surface mode, go to

INSERT > IMPORT CAD

3. Choose your CAD file.

4. Back to the EDIT SURFACE mode, pick the Imported CAD File in your 3D View, and choose the Layers that build up the topography in the CAD file.

5. Click the Green Check to FINISH EDITING, and there it goes.

Ta-da!
