MOVIE REVIEW — Guilty Hands [1931]

The Perfect Murder

Guilty Hands (1931) is a superb film. The former DA, who had sent 50 murderers to the electric chair, plots the perfect murder. Richard Grant (Lionel Barrymore) is incensed when his daughter, Barbara (Madge Evans) declares she will marry the immoral Gordon Rich (Alan Mowbray). Richard plots the perfect murder of Gordon.

My, oh my, what an ending!

We all know the credits of Lionel Barrymore, but the movie also includes one of my favorite Pre-Code actresses, Kay Francis. Between 1930 and 1936, Kay was the number one female star and became the highest-paid actress at Warner Bros. Studio.
