For you, mom.

I want to do this all for you, mom.

I’ve learned a lot from you. Through all the nagging me about chores, giving me hugs and kisses, and laughing hysterically about something that wasn’t very funny, you were teaching. You have always exemplified kindness, passion, enthusiasm, and inclusion.

You have taught me that I can really do something that matters. That the world is my stage, and all I have to do is sing my heart out. You taught me to respect everyone, even, and especially, when it’s hard. You taught me to fight bravely for the things I believe in, and to never, ever, back down when I’m scared. You taught me the power of unity, of collaboration — the power of people.

But most of all, you taught me the value of teeny-tiny steps towards something great.

I have the courage to try this because you built me up for 18 years. I have the intense understanding of the value of $0.25 because of how hard I worked to find your $0.25 Easter Eggs as a kid. I know I have what it takes because you gave it to me.

I’m building this company for you, mom.

I want to make the world a better place, so that you won’t have to worry about me.

I want to build something that helps fix problems like education and bullying. Just like you fought for me, I know how many other moms have to battle those things every single day for their children. I want to fight to protect the oceans so that in 20 years, I can still have beach days with you and Dad. I want PocketChange to fight so many issues, because there is so much left to do. I want so much more, because I know it’s possible.

But most of all, I want you to know that I love you. No matter what, I love you.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom.
