I believe psychology is the attempt to pathologize all behavior when the behavior does not comply to a mythical idea of normal. People are stigmatized by their psychological diagnoses for good reason.

You mean the so called “popular” and edible Psychology? The research or at least some research areas and epistemologies are counter voices to that narrative. Just take an idiographic, dialogical or Emotion Focused Therapy view and you will hear those voices loud and clear. I have to agree that some of the loudest voices in discourses on topics of popular Psychology are a pile of rubbish.
