No, ChatGPT is NOT Connected to the Internet
Today I ran over an article by Michael King claiming he just proved that ChatGPT is connected to the Internet, using an intriguing method. Well, it’s not and I proved that.
IMPORTANT NOTE: In case you didn’t already know that, ChatGPT is not connected to the Internet and all its knowledge is frozen in 2021. Keep that in mind while you read.

In order to prove that ChatGPT is connected to the Internet, Michael first instructed ChatGPT to act as a Linux terminal. That was really smart, I must say, which is why I considered it deserved a counter article.
The prompt he used was:
After trying some common commands, like pinging www.google.com or lynx-ing www.whatismyip.com he received some promising results, which I tried to replicate. The output looked legit, but when I tried looking at the IP locations on the actual Internet, it was a totally different result.
