Travel the World — Where would you go?
Rogelio Granados

In this 2010 advertisement for Terra Travel, a travel agency, used quite a effective and creative way to advertise their services. In the background of the ad, it depicts a dentist office at the bottom of a pool and in the surface a luxurious hotel surrounded by palm trees and a seating area. Between all of that there is a dentist swimming toward the surface trying to “catch it’s breath”. Over all this is an effective ad since it uses the central “illusion” of advertisement, which is making the consumers feel as though it was intended just for them.
In addition, this ad uses the need to escape as it’s main focus. It concentrates around the concept of making the consumer want to get a way from their jobs or responsibilities and enjoy a nice relaxing vacation away from all of the stress from work. Terra Travel provides this freedom consumers are seeking. The desire to escape their everyday boring schedule and enjoy themselves away from everything. Furthermore, this ad is so successful because most of the consumers who look at this ad can relate to it on a personal level. It’s a desire of theirs to enjoy a few days away from work and travel the world.
In conclusion, it’s important for consumers to understand advertising and the thought process behind every ad. To comprehend the difference types of ways that companies use our emotions and desire to promote their products onto us. Knowing the different types of advertising strategies will make the consumer be more in control of the type of media they consume.
