Unfinished Novel?
Do This Now! (Especially if You’re Feeling Overwhelmed)
I started writing my first novel on 10 August 2023. Within about one month, I wrote 13,262 words. And then I stopped.
Here’s the trick I used to finally start working on it again one year later…
I have written about my struggle to finish writing my novel in this story, in this story, and probably in others.
I have even published drafts of the first few chapters here on Medium.
During that first month of writing last year, I made very good progress, but I had to stop because all the typing was causing unbearable pain in my arms.
At first, I gave myself a break from typing to allow my body to heal, but I decided to continue doing research, as the genre is historical-ish fiction.
historical-ish fiction: everything, including the location, is fictional, but set in a certain time period and based on actual history of the time and “region”
I also started writing on Medium at this time, and I read many amazing articles about writing.
