PASINAYA 2016 — PINASAYA AT ITS FINEST
Pasinaya 2016 was held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and it was a day long art festival where different forms of art were shown in the whole vicinity of CCP and partner museums.
This was my first time to attend to this kind of festival and it was overwhelming and I can proudly say that I was able to attend and go watch different performances and see different art forms because of Pasinaya 2016. Pasinaya is considered to be the largest multi-arts festival in the country and I must say that it is really amazing and enjoyable attending this kind of festival particularly Pasinaya.
It is so easy to be part and to attend Pasinaya, at first I thought attending this kind of events would require a large amount of money as well as it will take a long process somehow. But being part of Pasinaya is way too different from what I expect. You just have to register online or you can also go as walk-in and choose whether to enter the event as a VIP which costs Php300.00 or to just have the regular pass which requires Php20.00 as a minimum donation. There is no fee for Pasinaya, it is just a donation so that we can continue experiencing this kind of event and seeing art forms all over the country.

For our group, since not everyone have enough money to go for VIP we just choose to have the regular pass and also we won’t stay long in the event so it won’t be worth it to go as a VIP.

When we get into the vicinity of CCP, there were people but not that much but as time pass the people gets doubled and the place got almost fully occupied (some wasn’t able to have their seats) for the opening programs or ceremonies.
We just sit in the provided space/bench while waiting for the performances that will serve as the opening ceremony. When the program start, the hosts acts like a family.

The hosts were good but the highlight of the event for me, aside from all the artworks and performances I was able to see was the performances of the students from Philippine Normal University particularly the PNU BalingSaSayaw and PNU Pep Squad.

I was so surprised with these performances because I saw someone I’ve never seen for years and I was shocked with his talent. I knew that he is part of PNU’s BalingSaSayaw and Pep Squad but I didn’t knew that he was that good and he was even more flexible that I am (since I don’t even have a flexible body and I don’t dance well).
When I heard the host calling PNU BalinSaSayaw for the first performance I was already shocked then I immediately searched for my cousin (Erne) among the ones who will be performing and my eyes got bigger when I saw him. Erne and I weren’t close, we don’t talk and first and last time (well before Pasinaya 2016) we’ve seen each other was when our grandfather died and even with that event we didn’t talk to each other.
Yes we’re not close and we don’t talk to each other and because of that upon reading this, you probably would think that “why is she like that as if they know each other bla bla and such” but the thing is, it is memorable for me because it is the reason why we’re able to get the chance to talk to each other. It was because of the photo of their performance I took, it was because of their performance I was able to witness and it was all because of Pasinaya 2016 (and because it has an extra credit for the class that’s why I attended this event aside from I really want to attend such events).

All in all, I enjoyed the events since it was able to become a medium for us (me and my cousin) to talk and because it allowed me to see and witness different art forms which is not only through paintings and sculptures. This event enlightened me that there are multiple art forms in the country and that we should all learn to love and appreciate them because they give so much beauty in our lives.
These are some of the performances and artworks were able to witness during the Pasinaya 2016:

I must say that this Pasinaya experience wouldn’t be the last because I have the feels of going back and attending the upcoming Pasinaya events in the next years because this first time experience gave me memorable experiences and insights that I will treasure.
