I think this article makes some very strong points. I do agree with her summary that distancing cis-woman from trans women overall reflects a weaker force against sexism. I am very pro-shared bathrooms and accessibility to anyone who identifies as woman. That said, I still think the experience (by and large) is very different because there is actually more luggage a trans-woman has to unpack in the world. The very biology itself (and its biological experiences) are different. The way people look at you are once-removed from cis-gender women. To be cis-gender is a privilege in itself ( which point and case, you see some vile hateful comments here from cis-gender people who feel their ‘normal’ gender gives them the platform to rubbish another’s reality). To that effect, isn’t it worthwhile for the feminist movement to consider that difference? We can still acknowledge the difference and work towards the same goal. I’d love to hear from the author on this one. Thanks for your well presented thoughts.
