A few days ago, during this entire CoVid19 situation, I called the Indian Embassy here in California. I was then connected to the media and outreach contact person of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS). Dr. Amit Desai from HSS was kind enough to hear out my ongoing problems and reassured me that HSS will help me with the hardships I am facing.
I found out that Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh is a voluntary, non-profit social and cultural organisation started in 1989. Their aim is to preserve, practice and promote Hindu ideals and values. The Hindu population in the US has always been a part of the communities in which they live and are acclaimed for their economic, social, and cultural accomplishments. HSS has partnered with Sewa International, a Hindu faith based organisation, which is based in Houston, Texas with providing help during this Pandemic.
They are providing masks, hand sanitisers, gloves, and food to the healthcare
workers, fire and police department and those in need in the community.
They are also helping students like me by providing us with temporary
accommodations, food/ groceries, counselling, and talking to parents back home and providing them with reassurance as to our safety. Dr. Desai spoke to my parents in Mumbai, India and they were happy to know I am not alone during this crisis.
They are taking care of two students and three visiting families at the moment, helping them lodge in local hotels, providing food and other essentials like medicines. They have contacted physicians who are helping during this pandemic, prescribing medications for those in need.
Dr. Desai says it is his duty to help others and he will continue to do so.
HSS is selflessly providing these services not only for the Indian community but communities at large around the US. HSS is also open to people who want to give and seek help. He says HSS is growing with more people joining everyday with an aim of unity during hard times. Dr. Desai has appeared on various news channels spreading awareness about this Sanstha (association).

If you or anyone you know is in any need at all, you can contact the Hindu
Swayamsevak Sangh.
