Prepare for Aavegotchi launch

A lot of you probably have already heard about Aavegotchi. The mainnet is scheduled to launch today (January 4). So excited!

Aavegotchis are cute NFT pixel characters. To get an Aavegotchi, one must first acquire $GHST (Aavegotchi’s governance token). You must also have passed Aavegotchi’s KYC. You then use said GHST to buy an Aavegotchi from the ‘portal’. There are up to 10 random Aavegotchis in the portal to browse. Next, you select the one that most appeals to you – there are a lot of different criteria (aka ‘traits’: Aggressiveness, Energy, Spookiness, Brain Size, Eye Shape, Eye Color) to consider when selecting an Aavegotchi. But, for me, it comes down to which is the cutest one within my budget (and Brain Size) – actually I hope that the Aavegotchi chooses me. On selecting the Aavegotchi for you, you must pay an amount of aTokens (interest-bearing tokens lent on Aave) to summon it. The aToken and the amount depends on the rarity of its traits. Once you have an Aavegotchi, actions like ‘petting’ it, participating in the DAO, dressing it up with Aavegotchi wearables (awarded through three themed GHST-staked raffles in the lead up to mainnet launch), playing mini-games, etc help it to gain XP (experience points), thus increasing its value on secondary markets. There are also options to ‘rarity’ farm your ‘gotchis and earn GHST.

What makes Aavegotchi so great? There is a lot going on in the crypto and NFT space right now. It’s certainly hard to break this project down into simple terms – try ELI5-ing it to your grandma! But in spite of all this, the community support behind this is awesome! And that’s because the team has baked into the project awesome incentives to engage its community. We haven’t even launched yet so who knows where this is going?? Just watch out for those gas fees!!
