House of Cards
I built a house of cards. The sun shone vibrantly throughout, and although fragile, it displayed itself with strength. We placed our secrets there, our love, my trust. I built. house of cards that stood firm and withheld earthquakes at the sound of your anger, the fragrance of your sin. Although the ground quivered violently, each laminated fiber remained. The world would shake, then become quite still. Each day was different; every word spoke could tremble the house and the world around it. Your voice and words turned into a storm. After a while, strength fails. One can only withstand so much. I built a house of cards, and watched it tumble and fall apart as the world shook it flat, your world. I picked up the pieces and promised to never allow myself to build a house on this table again.
