For You: part 1 of many
I fell in love with you suddenly,
and all at once.
I fell in love with you,
in a dim lit parking lot,
wishing time would freeze just for a moment longer.
Wanting all of my moments to hold the wonder of your smile.
I fell in love.
Your hand fits mine like the creases of my favorite sweater,
And I find comfort in the embrace of your arms,
as if the homes I had been searching for were never homes at all.
“I love you,” you said, through a candlelit whisper.
This is too fast, but I want to go faster.
I need to slow down.
But I fell in love.
I want to offer you the moon,
Fully aware that you are deserving of the universe,
and every majestic piece of art the galaxies have to hold.
I am falling in love with you, still,
With every word you say.
I want to know what it’s like to really know you,
To finish your sentence,
Memorize the anguish on your face when your least favorite food is sat down in front of you.
To taste your smile, and understand your heart.
I am falling, still, in love with you.
And, although all things end, I never want to stop.
And if I do,
I am happy to have known the love, I love, when I fell in love with you.
