Progressives face a hopeless future in the Democratic Party. Progressives are despised by Democratic “centrists” in precisely the same way that libruhls are despised by the GOP. This is the necessary lesson we must absorb. It’s a painful but necessary transition away from the past. There is no point in waiting to be ‘invited to the table,’ because it ain’t gonna happen. Ever. As 45+ year union member and labor activist, this is especially painful to me. I grew up in my household on memories of FDR and the Great Depression. But the divorce is final, and we must move on. My greatest hope is in the younger generation — their future is in their hands and I wish them well.

Exhausting yourself against hopeless obstacles is just stupid. The Democratic Party will never revisit its historic commitment to working people, because that’s not part of it business (funding) model. People who are literally paid not to listen will never be swayed by any argument, no matter how persuasive.

If you like being called a Bernie-bot or a Russian stooge, then by all means, you may quietly approach hat in hand and sit at the children’s table. Just don’t expect the adults at the table to endorse single-payer (or any other progressive measure) — that’s not what they are paid to do.

You should take your lead from the Democratic Party leadership itself. They explicitly believe they don’t need you. They certainly don’t want you.

Take them at their word.
