It’s interesting that the PHP group was willing to make breaking changes to PHP in order to get a better language out of it. Too bad ECMA can’t do the same for JS. It remains to be seen, however, whether PHP’s fortunes will turn around. Larry Wall has been working on Perl 6 for over a decade, and while it appears to be a nice language (quite different from Perl 5), I don’t see a path for it moving forward. It’s really, really tough fighting against the tide of a declining language.
