That’s because you’re used to curly brace languages. You’ve become inured to that style of syntax.

In the course of my 30 years in IT, I’ve used nearly a dozen languages with extremely varied syntax. I’ve never had a problem adapting to different syntax. The key is to have an open mind.

You find VB easier to read. This, of course, is highly subjective. I find Smalltalk easy to read because, to me, it more closely resembles natural language. The syntax is much cleaner than, say, Java or JavaScript or C# or C++. Java and C++, in particular, are extremely verbose.
