Lock Excel Files with Folder Lock

Today, thanks to spreadsheets such as excel, we are able to make detailed records of everything. They are used in all types of workplace applications. Take for example statistics, you can generate key statistical figures which can project important information which could make the difference between what works and what doesn’t. In accounting, you can create entire income statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports. In human resource, you have the option to create entire records of salary, performance evaluations, benefits administration and other details. It’s no wonder why organizations and professionals consider excel files sensitive.

However, there is a lot of confusion about how to keep such files safe. Accordingly, there are many software programs designed to lock and hide sensitive excel files but many are ineffective when faced with advanced threats. Nonetheless, software program Folder Lock — known to be the world’s most trusted security software — has been tested to keep sensitive excel files secure from even the most advanced threats.

Folder Lock is easy to use and locking excel files takes just a few seconds, here’s how to get started.

Step 1:

Download Folder Lock, then double click on the .exe file once the downloading has concluded. You will be required to set-up a master password, this will ensure that no one is able to access your Folder Lock except you. Also, be sure to set up an effective password by using a combination of upper case, lower case, symbols and numbers.

Step 2:

Now, you can start locking your sensitive excel files. The process of locking is very simple, in fact, even your grandma can learn how to lock her files with Folder Lock. To get started, click on the ‘Add Items to lock’ button, it is located on the upper left hand corner (this menu can be accessed through the ‘Lock Folders’ menu located on the top left pane menu in Folder Lock).

Step 3:

Clicking on the ‘Add Items to lock’ will allow you to view the drop down menu, from here you are offered multiple locking option. If you want to lock an entire folder of excel files, you can do so. Likewise, if you would like to lock files, it can also be accomplished through this drop down menu. Next, simply select the option that best meets your needs. Once you have selected the file or folder that you wish to lock, simply browse for it, locate it and click on it to lock it, it will now appear in the ‘Lock Folders’ list.

Step 4:

Clicking on the file or folder, you will be able to view the various options available to you located on the top menu. On the top menu, you will be able to see options to turn on/off protection, unlock the items and select all.

Alternative to step 4:

If you value simplicity and hate going through extra steps, you can simply drag and drop the file or folder onto the ‘lock folders’ menu. Once you do that, your file or folder will be instantly locked, a visual indicator will also appear next to file indicating that it’s been locked.
