Huevos con Dios Brother: Eggs with God was something I said once, while leaving Dot’s Diner on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado back in the 70’s. At the time I was just being a smart ass. Jon Steele and I were walking back to the Hotel Boulderado after having a breakfast of huevos rancheros at Dot’s Diner. Jon asked me if I knew what I had just said. I repeated “Huevos con Dios”. Jon said to me, “that translates as Eggs with God”.

I was leaving town for what ever rock band tour, that I was about to start as a stage manger/roadie, and Jon was getting ready for his radio show on KBOC. When we parted that day, little did I know it would be thirty some years before we would see each other again. That was a long time to think about what I had said.

Now a days I think of “Eggs with God” is referring to eggs as the seed of creation and God as the creator. Having breakfast with God seems to me as a nice salutation for friends to say.

Jon, thank you for all the joy you have sent my way. Huevos con Dios Brother.
