Examinations into American Healthcare Reform and Its Implications

In a time where tensions are high and divisiveness is apparently ubiquitous in the United States, it’s useful to take a thorough look back at American healthcare in earlier years. Let’s break the deal down and really get into the nitty-gritty this reform effort and its motivations.

Introduction

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), or Obamacare, is a hotly contested issue in healthcare reform today. This paper will work in three overarching sections explaining the problem, alternatives, and a suggested choice. The starting point for analysis regarding the effectiveness of the Affordable Care Act will stem from identifying the dimensions of the problem. These dimensions — causation, scope, severity, and tractability — provide a tangible method of assessing the problem. A historical understanding of the healthcare system in the U.S. as well as the structural elements of that previous systems are required to fully understand causation and scope.

Severity can be shown through a review of the quality and accessibility of U.S. healthcare systems while previous attempts at healthcare reform in the U.S will illustrate the tractability of the healthcare issue.
