He got fired, that’s a consequence, no? It seems you’re arguing that Google needs to be a ‘safe space’ where any viewpoint that might offend someone should be forbidden. That’s not really a way to encourage diversity and dialog, is it? Certainly, if someone steps over the line and uses the openness as a platform to demean a broad class of people and their contributions, rather than simply presenting alternate viewpoints that might (however fancifully) better the performance of the company, they should get the ax. Which is what happened, here.
