The premiss of the essay — that there is a thing called “rape culture” — is thoroughly debunked in Cathy Young’s essay “The Rape Culture Myth” [1]. It examines and illustrates the extent to which the rape culture myth narrative relies on misinformation, distortion, and silencing critics. We are at a turning point where these types of essay simply don’t enjoy free passage any more.
