One more item if I may, I see where many are poking fun at the Republicans for Klan associations that don’t exist. How about some that do? Now these folks would seem to have no knowledge of actual history so let’s review a bit. Who was the last member of the KKK to serve in congress? Now this was not just some run of the mill representative or senator or your average KKK member, this guy was the Grand Kleagle in the Klan. That is the individual in charge of recruiting new members, bringing in new blood so to speak. He was also, this factoid contains a clue to his identity, one who was absolutely lionized by their party and upon him was bestowed the title of ‘The Conscience of the Senate’. Got it yet? Here’s more, Bill Clinton gave his eulogy and Hillary a rousing send off speech, give up. It was Senator Robert E. Byrd, Democrat of West Virginia. Yes Democrat and Conscience of the Senate? Wow. This is not old history by any means it is less than ten years since this occurred.
It seems most everything in West Virginia is named in his honor yet I see no movement to remove his name from public structures, roads, bridges and even schools. Why do you think this is? Right, he is a democrat, that one you got right.
He was among those like Clinton’s mentor William Fulbright and Al Gore Sr., dedicated segregationists who opposed and filibustered the civil rights legislation in the 1960’s yet no one is asking for the purging of their names, no they ask instead for the purging of the truth as they too were democrats.
Something to think about isn’t it. Now you know what we mean when we say truth is stranger than fiction because given the history taught these days it really is, and that is a fact.
