10 years ago if you told me I’d even entertain the idea of basic income I’d have debated pouring a drink over your head of mocking you with fierce intellectual barbs. I’m a freaking entrepreneur for God’s sake. But watching how unhappy we as a people are becoming, the gradual decline of America and western civilization and the increasing automation & acceleration of AI and robotics and I’m struck. We are, making things much much worse. And there’s no reciprocal hit on the balance sheet of life for the giant social debt balloon we are creating. At best it leads to increased social ills, homelessness, hunger, longer hours less joy. At its worst riots, civil war, famine, death.

So yes. oddly. I find myself asking smarter people than I to build some models, look at some data, experiment, iterate learn, share. Maybe there’s a better way, this one isn’t really working.
