So why do I continually, aggressively pay my staff, from reception and the drivers in our sedan pool all the way up to senior management, consistently a minimum 25% higher compensation rate than even my much, much larger competitors?

Because you understand that all things being equal, happy people outperform unhappy people 10–1. = 10x return on capital all other factors being equal. ;-)
