Introduction

The Keto Diet has become popular over the years as people have become more appearance and weight conscious. There are many variations of the Keto Diet but essentially, the main aim is to restrict your carbohydrate consumption and turn your body into a fat burning machine. The body generally requires carbohydrates to fuel energy. If the body cannot turn to carbs as a source of energy, it will begin to burn fat and produce ketones to use as energy. The overall result of this should be a drop in body fat.

Keto Diet & Weight Loss

The Keto Diet is a short-term diet that places heavy restrictions on what you can eat. Once you are committed to Keto, you cannot eat things like fruit, certain vegetables, bread, pasta, potato, crackers, and any other foods that are high in carbohydrates. The only exception to this rule is refeed or cheat days which are used to restore your glycogen levels. However, all these restrictions can result in your body losing out on essential nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and fibre. Electrolytes

Electrolytes are salts, magnesium, potassium, and other minerals which are used by the body to balance chemicals and regulate the level of fluid within and out your cells. When attempting a keto diet, you may notice you begin to urinate more as your glycogen levels deplete. When this happens, your body will begin to lose electrolytes and therefore it is essential to restore them.

Meal Replacement Diet Shake

The keto diet can be difficult. It relies on sources of protein and if you’re after a quick snack, this can be difficult as you can’t literally cook a steak in the middle of the day during work. Don’t starve yourself. Opt for a protein shake or diet meal replacement shake that is low in carbs. These are quick to drink and can be fuller for longer. Keto is a decent short-term way to trim excess fat and reduce the waist size. It should be viewed with caution as it restricts a lot of essential food groups. Supplements can help to minimise any potential deficiencies, but this should not be a long-term solution.
