Saving a few Milliseconds Does Not Excuse a Crap User Experience

I think that maybe you have confused the purpose of the ‘Home’ button. The purpose of that button is to bring you to the iOS home (springboard) screen. The fact that is shows the lock screen at all is a side affect.

Meaning no disrespect, but if you were using the Home button to view your lock screen, you were taking advantage of the side affect (and the bug wherein Touch ID was too slow), rather than using the Home button for it’s intended functionality.

The button, whose intended functionality is to wake the phone and show you the lock screen is the Sleep button.

Removing the lock screen altogether as you suggest, fixes this so-called bug for the Home button, but it would break the functionality of the Sleep button.
