Megan what are basing this off of? Service design is already getting fractured by people that can’t sell it or are to lazy to learn about it. I would imagine that your mentor has never actually worked in service design. Industrial Design, UX, CX, Visual Design, etc… can all look like service design until you have actually go further into the depth and breadth of being a professional Service Designer. If people want to win service design awards they should apply for an SDN award.
