Getting Started with the TALL Stack [December 2022]
2 min readNov 22, 2022
I love the TALL stack! It’s a highly-productive, well-documented, web development stack with a strong focus on developer experience. The TALL stack includes Tailwind CSS, Alpine.js, Laravel, and Livewire.
Free and paid resources for learning the TALL stack
There are so many good resources out there for learning the TALL stack, but here are some of my favorites:

- Laravel from Scratch 2022 by Brad Traversy (Youtube, Free, ~4 hours)
- Laravel Bootcamp (web, Free)
- Blade Component Cookbook (Laracasts, Paid, ~2 hours) — you will need to understand Blade components to prepare for Livewire
- Extensible Blade Components — Free article by Tighten
- Eloquent Relationships (Laracasts, Paid, ~1 hour 30 min) — a bit more in-depth with Eloquent relationships
Livewire
- Full Livewire Tutorial 2022 — (Youtube, Free, ~2 hours)
- Livewire Official Screencasts — (partly free; requires paid sponsorship to watch all)

Tailwind CSS
- Tailwind Crash Course by Brad Traversy (Youtube, Free, ~1 hour 30 minutes)
- Tailwind 2: From Zero to Production — (Youtube, Free, ~ 1 hour 40 minutes) — covers Tailwind 2.0, but is still very good and relevant
- Craft Scalable, Custom-Made Interfaces with Tailwind CSS — (egghead.io, Free, ~2 hours 30 minutes) — a bit more advanced, but an excellent walkthrough of using Tailwind to build a Discord clone.
Alpine.js
- Alpine Crash Course by Brad Traversy (Youtube, Free, 42 minutes)
- Learn Alpine.js (CodeCourse, Free, ~2 hours)
Read the Official Documentation
Great news! All the TALL stack frameworks have excellent documentation. Be sure to review the official docs in addition to the resources above.
