UX is UI

My brain hurts too. Not in a good way.

I do appreciate the energy put into this. I’m also left with the feeling that his too is just more hyperbole that leaves the world with little more clarity that existed before. What I’d love is for the author to write a new post and say the same thing in 5 paragraphs and 3 images. That’s my new litmus test of a good, chunked, readable article on medium, nay I say anywhere.

BTW: should I ever muster the energy to draft a similar post it will have the word Design or D added to every instance User Experience [Design] or UX[D]. In my experience, the biggest cause of confusion is this… By not adding on the suffix Design to these terms, we muddle up the meanings and get away from what’s most important: the user. A user has an experience; they have a User Experience(UX). Designers practice User Experience Design. If we really were practicing user-centered design we’d start with what UX means. And, if we work backward from that we certainly would consider UI to be part of the UX. Right? Get it? :)

Cheers
