migos — now (feat. gucci mane)
hey there, today i’m gonna talk about why i like this song a lot. any song that starts with “sonny digital” is gonna be flames of course. his beats are hard as hell but also very precise and intricate. love that dude.
gucci starts off nice and slow, but still delivering quotables on almost every line. love the shit-talking in his lyrics since he got out of jail — he’s hot right now and he knows it. “you was rich back then, but i’m rich right now/you was the shit back then, i’m the shit right now!” groovy ass beat too damn sonny. verse ends, then
boom. tempo picks up for the hook and the energy of the track multiplies. quavo comes in like an espresso shot and has you hypnotized immediately. not a whole lot to the chorus, but towards the end of it you’re expecting the beat to slow back down for the next verse
all you hear is
QUAVO!
and you know you’re buckled in for the ride of your life.
surprise bitch song does not slow back down quavo starts going in and the song is 1000 times more lit. before i could process what was even going on quavo said “what if your wrist get tired, quavo? then imma whip with my elbow” and my knees buckled. realizing that gucci lobbed a 16-bar alley-oop just for quavo to smash it makes the song that much better. whew what else? two more migos members oh shit.
once the excitement from the flawless transition wears off, the track is decent. if you switch the song off here i can’t blame you. i gotta say, it used to be offset > takeoff but idk offset’s been kinda weak lately while takeoff has been rapping his ass off. especially on this one. he needs more solo features.
alright that’s all. if you actually made it through this whole thing, i love you and i hope you like the song as much as i did.
