A decade and a half ago, when it was 1999, Kevin Ashton introduced The Internet of Things (IoT) as a revolutionary invention to the people of this world. Since then it has seen and encountered many changes and a huge number of devices can get connected to the Internet through it. We are at the point where IoT transformed into a standard operation.

With respect to development and planning of IoT, there exists an unmistakable barrier between the hardware and software platforms. Vendors nowadays are more interested in hardware. There are only two or three vendors in the business that offer IoT software platforms. From the principle 100 IoT associations around 13 give IoT software platforms. To have a better perception of IoT software platform landscape in light it is essential to grasp which vendor presents what kind of functionalities in their IoT.
