So I’m confused. The only part of Medicare that is not privatized is the insurance program, as all the medical expenditures go to the private sector for actual care. Price wants to convert the insurance from a large group policy (the largest) where the economy of scale earns steep discounts (like large businesses enjoy) to a marketplace where people get a voucher (subsidy) to buy individual policies (of varying benefits) sold by private insurance companies (who take their cut as profit). Although you can’t benefit from Medicare until you are 65, you are forced (mandated) to pay premiums (medicare payroll tax) for that insurance throughout your working life starting when you are young and healthy. Isn’t that exactly the design of the hated Obamacare? So Obamacare is terrible for the general public but just fine for seniors?
