The Truth About Your Marketing…

As entrepreneurs we may be in business for a wide variety of different reasons, however; one of the most important is surely to make a profit. In order to make a profit we need to ensure that we bring in a certain amount of income every month, and this is impossible without customers.

I can tell you from experience that most business owners today are typically marketing 3 ways:

  • “Hope marketing”. This is the strategy (if you can call it that) where a business owner simply hopes for referrals, walk in business and return customers. This is a BIG no no! You have no control over your business if this is how you are operating! I could talk about this way of “marketing” for hours but I will spare you because it will inevitable turn into a rant. I’ll just say this: If you are doing this — Make a change as soon as possible!
  • Spending their marketing budgets on unreliable, outdated and dying methods like TV, radio and print — all of which have the same problem (other than being less and less popular everyday). You have no idea how effective they are! There is no way to track ROI on any of these platforms other than asking customers where they heard about you. In essence, you are hoping that your investment in advertising will yield a positive return… but you will never really know for sure. Maybe I am OCD and controlling, but that would make me much to nervous as a business owner to not know exactly how every dollar spent is performing.
  • Optimizing their search engine presence on platforms like Google, Yahoo and Bing so that more people will find them. Now don’t get me wrong, this is so much better than either of the other two marketing strategies, but still has its significant downsides (especially for smaller, local businesses). This is still a form of the previously mentioned “hope marketing” because you are hoping that on any given day there is someone out there searching for exactly what you have… and you might get lucky! The truth is though — this is extremely unreliable, often expensive as hell and can take a very long time to set up before you start seeing the few results it can bring in (and is also very difficult to track performance).

The only consistent, track able and truly reliable way to marketing your business is through paid advertising!

Paid social media direct response advertising is how start up companies go from practically zero to millionaire dollar “over night success”. In fact, silicone valley has come up with a term for this strategy — growth hacking.

This form of advertising at its simplest is the method of strategically paying $1 and getting $2 or more back as quickly as possible.

Unless you are a huge company like Coke or Verizon who dump literally millions of dollars every month on commercials just to build and maintain their brand — You need paid direct response social media marketing.

Now, to keep this blog short and concise I will leave you there. My only hope with this article is to plant the seed of how important the proper marketing strategy is if you want to really succeed in business.

The next post will go over in detail how paid direct response social media marketing is structured, what it looks like, how much it really costs, how effective it really is, how and why we track EVERYTHING and even a case study to give you a good idea of how this can work for any business.

Cheers my friends and thanks for reading!
