When I was your age… (←You will be saying this more and more as you get older. Trust me.) I was of the opinion that if you couldn’t say anything nice, you shouldn’t say anything.

If I’ve learned anything in the twenty-nine extra years I’ve been alive longer than you, it’s that I was wrong — you will also learn to say this as you get older. I’ve tried to keep it to a minimum … but have failed miserably at it.

Today, I agree with you. “Telling someone exactly why they are being an asshole is one of the kindest things you can do for their future, whether or not they are ready to hear it.”

It causes problems; however, it is the socially correct thing to do!
